Common Questions

Questions we hear regularly from contractors, developers and property owners across Botswana.

How much does epoxy flooring cost in Botswana?

Epoxy flooring pricing depends on the floor area, system type, substrate condition, required surface preparation, access, curing time and the intended use of the floor. A light-duty residential garage system, a commercial floor and a heavy-duty industrial polyurethane system are priced very differently. The best way to get an accurate price is to send us the floor size, location, photos and intended use, or arrange a site assessment so that we can recommend the correct system.

Do you do a site visit before quoting?

We do not automatically carry out site visits for every enquiry. We first request the floor size, location, photos and intended use so that we can advise whether the project is suitable and provide an initial indication. Where the project is viable and requires proper assessment, we may arrange a site visit before issuing a formal quotation. This helps us check substrate condition, moisture risk, cracks, contamination, existing coatings, levels and access conditions.

How long does epoxy flooring take to install?

Installation time depends on floor size, system type, surface preparation and curing requirements. A basic coating system may take only a few days, while multi-coat, decorative flake, polyurethane or heavy-duty industrial systems may take longer. We provide a realistic programme at quotation stage and do not rush curing times, as proper curing is important for long-term performance.

Can epoxy be applied over existing tiles or paint?

Only after proper assessment. Existing tiles, paint or coatings must be checked for adhesion, strength and compatibility before any resin flooring system is installed over them. In many cases, removal, grinding or other mechanical preparation is required to achieve a reliable bond. We will assess the existing surface and advise honestly on the correct preparation method.

How long before I can walk or drive on the floor after installation?

This depends on the system installed, site temperature and curing conditions. Light foot traffic is often possible before full cure, but heavy traffic, vehicles, forklifts, chemical exposure and washing should only be allowed once the system has reached the required cure stage. We provide curing and aftercare guidance at handover.

Do you work outside Gaborone?

Yes. PourEpoxy is based in Gaborone and undertakes selected projects across Botswana, including Lobatse, Mahalapye, Palapye, Francistown, Ghanzi, Maun, Kasane and other locations. Out-of-town projects are assessed based on scope, logistics, mobilisation, accommodation and programme requirements.

What is the difference between epoxy and polyurethane flooring?

Epoxy and polyurethane systems are both resin flooring options, but they perform differently. Epoxy is generally hard, durable and well suited to warehouses, garages, workshops and commercial floors. Polyurethane systems can offer greater flexibility, thermal resistance and suitability for more demanding environments such as food production, wet processing or heavy-duty industrial areas. We recommend the system based on the environment, traffic, cleaning regime and performance requirements.

Do you supply products only, or do you install as well?

PourEpoxy is a specialist resin flooring installation contractor. We focus on surface preparation and the installation of epoxy, polyurethane and related resin flooring systems. For product supply, specification support or technical product guidance, clients may contact Tswanacrete, a separate specialist distributor and technical support provider for surface systems and construction chemicals in Botswana.
